Precast Pilot Home Now Underway
In Nikiski, a new way of home-building is taking shape.
Watch the video below for a fast look at Alaska’s first-ever precast hollowcore home now well underway — a full hollowcore structural system being installed with speed, precision, and consistency. Floor systems set. Wall panels erected. Roof assembly in progress. All achieved in just days. Each step demonstrates how modern precast construction can move projects forward quickly while maintaining the strength required for Alaska’s demanding conditions.
MORE THAN A PILOT PROJECT
This is more than just a pilot project. It is proof of how housing can be delivered differently—faster to build, more predictable to schedule, and designed to perform reliably for over a century in Alaska communities.
By manufacturing major structural components in a controlled environment and assembling them precisely on site, projects can move forward with greater certainty and fewer delays. That reliability matters in Alaska, where weather, logistics, and limited construction seasons can disrupt traditional building timelines. A system that installs efficiently and performs consistently helps communities plan with confidence, control costs, and deliver housing when it is needed most.
what comes next
With the structural shell in place, the next phase focuses on shaping the building into a finished home.
Crews will begin cutting and finishing the door and window openings, installing windows and exterior doors, and preparing the structure for interior systems and exterior finishes. These steps will quickly transform the current structure into a livable home—demonstrating how precast supports both durability and day-to-day comfort.
YOU’RE INVITED
